Final Team’s Day: Saturday Social Bowls 2025
Event Overview
The final team’s day of the 2025 Saturday Social Bowls brought together an impressive turnout, with 33 members and one visitor coming along to participate or cheer for their teams. The competition saw Tony’s “Team Invincibles” face off against Mark’s “Team Alleycats” in what proved to be an incredibly close and thrilling conclusion to the season.
Lead Up to the Final Weekend
After 21 consecutive weekends of play, the standings could not have been tighter. Mark’s team, the Alleycats, entered the last weekend with a slender lead of just one point, meaning every member had the opportunity to influence which captain would ultimately claim the coveted 2025 Saturday Social Trophy.
Match Progress and Results
The day started positively for Mark, whose team managed to secure a 3–1 lead in games and a narrow points advantage of 47–45 after the first four matches, after a further three games, the Alleycats maintained a 4–3 games lead and extended their points gap to 90–82.
Everything hinged on the final game. Tony and Shaun began strongly and, after two ends, had opened up a seven-point lead. After 21 weeks of intense competition, both Tony and Mark found themselves once again separated by a single point. On the tenth end, Tony and Shaun clinched the victory, leading to a final team’s result of 4–4 games and a narrow 97–94 points win for Tony and the Invincibles.
Fundraising Success
As a noteworthy achievement, the “Saturday Social Bowls” raised a total of £616 over the course of the weekends, excluding any bar sales made during these events.
Many thanks to the Albany family and friends for “getting involved” on a Saturday during 2025 season. Looking forward to 2026.
