In recent years, Albany BC has fielded a women's team in the Wednesday night games held at Birkenhead Park. This year, the team achieved several positive outcomes and finished third overall. The goal is to continue growing membership in order to eventually field a full team and participate in the ladies’ league in the future.
6th September;
Another fantastic event at LSBC today! Our return friendly against the Albany was very well attended by bowlers and spectators alike. We had 14 new members playing for LSBC in what for some was their first 'competetive ' game.
Thank you to Paul, Colin and Alan Welch for organising. Thanks also to Mike Heydon 's sister for the lovely buffet. Also well done to Teresa and Bobbie for keeping everyone organised and sorting the catering and raffle. Some great laughs along the way! Simon Downing LS Secretary

What a wonderful Sunday afternoon on our home green!
On Sunday August 3rd, 2025, A friendly competition was held at the Albany Bowling Club. The day was filled with many laughs, lovely food, great company, and excellent sportsmanship. This event was organised in the hopes of bringing people together to enjoy a friendly bowls competition, a bit of fun while also providing the club with an opportunity to raise money. Now, we can say the event has exceeded our expectations in every way!
A very special thank you to everyone who came down for the afternoon. We were blown away by the turn out! The atmosphere on and off the green was incredible. Thank you to all who made food & provided raffle prizes. It made the day extra special. We deeply appreciate the time taken out of your day to provide cakes and savory bites for this event. With everybody's contribution, we were able to raise over £277 for the club!
A huge congratulations to all participants, but a round of applause for our competition finalists; Katrina Lockwood and Roy Jones! Congratulations Roy on your win, great final game to end off the day. Regards Jake

25th July;
Congratulations to Mark Hughes for reaching the quarterfinals of the Ben Webster Shield at the Magazine Bowling Club.
Mark’s own words
“Well happy with my game today
Unfortunately knocked out in the quarter finals. Still happy for the experience of playing against 1st division players considering I'm in the 4th division
Fantastic day
Loved every minute ”
You represented Albany well, joining past winners like Alan Battle (2004, 1998) and Jimmy Welch (1999).

10th July; Great performance yesterday by the Birkenhead A team - winning (indeed repeating least years' success) the Stott Cup. Played on the excellent green at Thingwall and having to give the opponents - New Brighton Quarry C, 30 shots handicap. The team was well supported and more so when Joe and Irene turned up despite Joe's serious illness. Every one of the team played really well and well deserved the victory. In fact we didn't have a loser!!
